Dr. Axel J. Ojeda-Cruzado is a family medicine physician at NuvaCare Clinic in Cordova, Tennessee, serving patients from Cordova, Memphis, Germantown, Arlington, and surrounding Mid-South communities.
He holds separate board certifications in Family Medicine and Surgical Obstetrics and provides care in both English and Spanish.

His goal is for patients to feel comfortable speaking openly about their symptoms, concerns, questions, and goals without feeling embarrassed, rushed, or dismissed.
A visit begins with the patient’s history and concerns, followed by an appropriate physical examination and medical evaluation.
From there, Dr. Ojeda explains what he believes may be happening, discusses the reasonable options available, and helps the patient understand what should happen next.
He also believes strongly in the responsible use of healthcare resources.
Rather than automatically pursuing every available test or treatment, Dr. Ojeda considers the patient’s history, symptoms, examination, risk factors, and individual circumstances before recommending the diagnostic or treatment options he believes are medically appropriate.
- Not every symptom requires the most expensive test.
- Not every condition requires the most aggressive treatment.
- And not every patient needs exactly the same approach.

Dr. Ojeda’s separate board certifications in Family Medicine and Surgical Obstetrics allow him to provide a broad scope of medical care.

His additional training in Surgical Obstetrics allows him to provide prenatal and obstetric care within his clinical scope.

Outside of Medicine
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Ojeda is an avid Formula 1 and baseball fan and strongly believes in maintaining an active lifestyle. He works out regularly and enjoys mountain biking with friends.
He is married to Dr. Karla Ramos-Ojeda, an Internal Medicine physician, and they live in Germantown, Tennessee. They enjoy traveling, spending time with friends, and sharing life with their two dogs, Don Diego and Luna.
Luna also holds a special place in the NuvaCare family as the clinic mascot.
Most importantly, Dr. Ojeda sees medicine as a relationship between a physician and another human being.
