Our Promise to Every Patient
- I was heard.
- I was respected.
- My questions were answered.
- And the people taking care of me genuinely cared.
What Makes NuvaCare Different: Medicine That Begins With Listening
At NuvaCare, listening is not simply good customer service. It is part of good medicine. A patient’s story can provide some of the most important information a physician receives: what the patient is experiencing, what concerns them most, how long it has been happening, what has changed and what they are hoping to accomplish.
Our clinical approach begins by listening, followed by an appropriate examination and medical evaluation. From there, we want patients to understand what we believe may be happening and the reasonable options available to them. We believe in thoughtful, balanced medical care that uses clinical expertise and healthcare resources responsibly while allowing patients to participate in decisions about their health.
- Not every symptom requires the most expensive test.
- Not every condition requires the most aggressive treatment.
- And not every patient needs exactly the same approach.
The Patient Experience Is Part of Healthcare
Excellent healthcare involves much more than what happens inside an examination room. The patient experience begins before the doctor ever walks through the door. Was it easy to contact the clinic? Were you treated respectfully? Did someone help with your insurance questions? If you are paying for your own care, did you understand your options? Was the clinic clean and organized? Were your questions answered? Did you understand what happens next? Those details matter.
That is why patient experience is one of the core principles of NuvaCare. We are intentionally building the clinic around communication, cleanliness, organization, accessibility and service because we believe the experience surrounding a medical visit should reflect the quality of the medicine being provided.
Taking Care of the People Who Take Care of You
- Take care of the team.
- Take care of the patient.
- Practice excellent medicine.
One Medical Home for the Whole Family
NuvaCare was designed to become a trusted medical home for families in Cordova and the greater Memphis area. Our family medicine model allows us to care for patients through many different stages of life, including children, teenagers, adults, women and men. The goal is to make it easier for families to receive many of their healthcare services in one place and build a lasting relationship with a medical team that knows them.
Family medicine also means that men’s health is part of family healthcare. Preventive care, annual physicals, chronic disease management and having a physician you trust are important for husbands, fathers, sons and grandfathers. NuvaCare also cares for women through different stages of life, including primary care, women’s health, prenatal care and obstetrics.
Insurance, Self-Pay and Bilingual Care
Healthcare should not feel welcoming only to patients with the right insurance card. NuvaCare welcomes both insured and self-pay patients. We believe someone paying directly for healthcare deserves the same respect and attention as someone using insurance. Our team works with patients to help them understand insurance verification questions and available self-pay options.
NuvaCare is proud to provide care in English and Spanish. For Spanish-speaking patients and families, being able to discuss healthcare in their preferred language can make an important difference. Symptoms can be described more accurately, questions can be asked more comfortably and treatment plans can be understood more clearly. At NuvaCare, bilingual healthcare is not an afterthought. It is part of who we are. Se habla español.
Managed by Astra Medical Management
NuvaCare’s commitment to patient care is supported by Astra Medical Management, the management organization behind the clinic’s day-to-day operations and patient-experience systems. Astra works behind the scenes so NuvaCare’s clinical team can concentrate on medicine. Its responsibilities include supporting clinic operations, patient-access processes, insurance verification, self-pay workflows, staffing, technology, vendor relationships, organizational systems and the overall patient experience.
Astra Medical Management was created around the belief that a successful healthcare organization must support both the patients receiving care and the professionals providing it.
Healthcare businesses exist to serve people: the patient who needs medical care, the family trying to understand insurance coverage, the employee helping someone through a difficult day and the physician trying to make the best clinical decision for the person sitting in front of them. NuvaCare delivers the care. Astra helps build the environment that makes that care possible.

Alexandra Suarez “Alexa”
Director of Patient Experience | NuvaCare Clinic | Astra Medical Management
Alexa brings years of experience across healthcare operations, patient care, medical billing and insurance, human resources, recruiting, client relations, and organizational management.
Her background gives her an unusual combination of experience: she understands both the operational side of running organizations and the personal side of helping people when something is not going the way it should.
Experience Built Around People and Problem-Solving
Earlier in her career, Alexa served as COO of a large medical practice, where she gained firsthand experience managing the people, systems, and everyday challenges involved in operating a busy healthcare organization.
That role gave her a deep understanding of medical practice operations and, in particular, the often complicated world of health insurance, billing, patient access, staffing, and the administrative processes that can affect a patient’s ability to receive care.
After her work in medical practice leadership, Alexa joined a large staffing company, where she managed multiple warehouse accounts and served as a primary point of contact for clients.
Her responsibilities included understanding client needs, addressing concerns, coordinating staffing requirements, resolving problems, and helping ensure that multiple accounts continued operating effectively.
Those experiences strengthened two qualities that have become central to the way Alexa works:
Pay attention to the details. Find the problem. Then find a solution.
The Patient Experience
At NuvaCare, all of those experiences come together in a role with an enormous responsibility:
the patient experience.
That responsibility is important because NuvaCare is built around a fundamental belief:
The most important person in the clinic is the patient.
Alexa works directly with patients and helps make the administrative side of healthcare easier to understand and navigate.
She helps oversee the experience patients have from their first interaction with NuvaCare through the communication and follow-up that happen after their visit.
Her responsibility is not simply to make sure a process gets completed.
It is to pay attention to how the patient experiences that process.
Making Healthcare Easier to Navigate
A major part of Alexa’s role includes insurance verification, helping patients understand coverage questions, addressing insurance-related concerns, and working with self-pay patients so they understand the options available to them.
Her extensive knowledge of the insurance process allows her to recognize potential problems, investigate what may be happening, and help patients navigate situations that can otherwise become confusing and frustrating.
But her role extends far beyond insurance.
For Alexa, every interaction matters—the way a phone call is answered, how a patient is welcomed, whether information is explained clearly, whether questions receive answers, whether follow-up happens when promised, and whether someone takes ownership when a problem needs to be solved.
Patients should never feel like they are being passed from person to person while trying to find an answer.
When something is not working correctly, Alexa’s instinct is to understand the problem and work toward a solution.
The Details Matter
Alexa is known for her exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
She understands that many of the things that determine whether healthcare feels reassuring or frustrating happen outside of the examination room.
A missed phone call, unclear instructions, an insurance issue, a scheduling problem, or a question that goes unanswered can completely change how a patient feels about their experience.
That is why she works closely with the NuvaCare team to identify opportunities for improvement and helps ensure that the clinic’s patient-service standards are reflected consistently throughout the organization.
For Alexa, patient experience is not simply customer service.
It means recognizing that behind every appointment, insurance policy, phone call, form, and medical record is a person who may be sick, worried, confused, or simply trying to take care of themselves or someone they love.
The process should make receiving care easier—not become another obstacle to receiving it.
Serving Patients in English and Spanish
Alexa is bilingual in English and Spanish, allowing her to communicate directly with both English- and Spanish-speaking patients and families throughout Cordova, Memphis, and the surrounding Mid-South community.
Being able to explain a process, answer a question, or help resolve a concern in the language a patient feels most comfortable speaking is another important part of making patients feel understood and cared for.
Outside of NuvaCare
Outside of work, Alexa is happily married to Yrving Suarez. They share their home in Arlington, Tennessee, with their daughter, Carlota, and their dog, Stella.
Family is an important part of Alexa’s life and contributes to the warm, family-centered perspective she brings to her work with NuvaCare patients.
Everything Begins With the Patient
Alexa’s philosophy is simple:
Make it easier for patients to receive the care they need, solve the problems standing in their way, and make sure they feel cared for throughout the process.
At NuvaCare, that responsibility is central to who we are.
Because everything begins with the patient.

taking care of patients.
Healthcare Has Always Been Personal
Luis Robinson Garcia, known to friends and colleagues as Robin, is the Founder and Managing Director of Astra Medical Management and serves as Director of Operations for NuvaCare Clinic in Cordova, Tennessee.
Through Astra, Robin oversees many of the business and operational systems supporting NuvaCare, including clinic operations, workflow development, administrative staffing, technology, vendor relationships, patient-access systems, and organizational strategy.
His role is centered on making sure the people, resources, and systems behind the clinic work effectively so that the medical team can remain focused on what matters most:
taking care of patients.
Physicians should have the support and freedom to make medical decisions based on what they believe is right for their patients—and the people working beside them should feel valued, respected, supported, and cared for as well.
Robin believes those two ideas are inseparable. A healthcare organization cannot expect its team to provide an exceptional experience for patients if the people providing that experience do not feel respected, safe, valued, and supported themselves.
Creating a positive workplace, giving employees the tools they need to succeed, listening to their concerns, and recognizing the importance of their work are not separate from patient care.
They are part of patient care.
Building the Organization Behind the Medicine
After years of experience in executive leadership, business development, investment, and consulting, Robin created Astra Medical Management around the idea that strong business operations should support good medicine—not get in the way of it.
That philosophy became part of the operational foundation behind NuvaCare Clinic, a family medicine and obstetrics practice serving Cordova, Memphis, and surrounding communities.
Robin’s responsibility is not to practice medicine. His role is to build and manage the systems surrounding the medical team so physicians and clinical staff can concentrate on caring for patients.
That means looking at everything from administrative staffing and technology to patient access, workflow, vendors, communication, and the countless operational details patients may never see—but often feel when those systems do not work well.
It also means helping create a workplace where employees have the resources, support, and respect they need to do their jobs well.
The objective was never simply to create another healthcare business.
It was to help build an organization where patients matter, employees matter, physicians are supported, and excellent medical care remains the reason the business exists.
Connected to Memphis and the Mid-South
Robin has spent many years involved with Memphis and the Mid-South Hispanic community.
His professional, civic, and community experience has included involvement with the Mid-South Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, LULAC, service representing the Hispanic and Latino community on a City of Memphis advisory committee, and advising organizations seeking to better understand and serve the Hispanic community and market.
His business experience has also extended beyond healthcare into entrepreneurship, consulting, investment, and real estate in Memphis and other markets.
Together with his wife, Carla Quintero-Garcia, and family, Robin has participated in community efforts supporting local families with food and other resources.
Having lived in Arlington, Cordova, and Germantown, he considers the Memphis area home and has developed a strong connection to the communities Astra and NuvaCare now serve.
Business Is Ultimately About People
The philosophy Robin brings to Astra Medical Management and NuvaCare is the same philosophy that has guided his approach to business for years:
Business is not really about business. It is about people.
Financial performance, technology, systems, and strategy matter. Every organization needs them to survive, grow, and serve people effectively.
But they are tools—not the purpose.
At NuvaCare, the patient comes first—but taking care of patients also means taking care of the people entrusted with caring for them.

The NuvaCare Standard
- Quality Care.
- Happy and Healthy Patients.
For us, that means more than providing clinical care. It means listening. It means answering questions. It means maintaining a clean, welcoming and organized clinic. It means respecting people’s time. It means helping patients understand their healthcare. It means making self-pay patients feel just as valued as insured patients. It means creating an environment where employees are proud to work. And it means remembering that when someone places their health — or the health of their child, spouse or parent — in our hands, they are placing tremendous trust in us.
We will always strive to listen. We will always strive to improve. And we will always strive to do what is right for our patients.
Welcome to a New Vision of Care. Welcome to NuvaCare Clinic.
