My Journey

I graduated in Medicine in 2002 and completed my GP training there. After finishing, I came to the UK through a programme recruiting GPs, and quickly fell in love with Yorkshire.

I’ve now been working as an NHS GP for over 20 years, with a special interest in women’s health, particularly hormonal changes, as well as chronic conditions such as diabetes.

I also have a real passion for teaching. I am a GP trainer and trainer in fitting coils and implants, and enjoy raising awareness around menopause. I’ve been a menopause advocate for years and, together with my colleague Sally, I run talks on menopause and mindfulness, including sessions with the Leeds Women’s Counselling Service. I also support this work as a mentor for several women’s health organisations including the College of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare (CoSRH).

I hold the Advanced Certificate in the Principles and Practice of Menopause Care (PPMC), the highest recognition from the British Menopause Society (BMS) for menopause specialists.

I’ve always naturally curious and driven to keep learning, especially when I feel there are gaps in the answers available. This has led me to complete a Master’s in Anti-Aging Medicine (Medicine 3.0), and I am currently pursuing a Master’s in Clinical Psychoneuroimmunology, as I continue to move towards a more integrated and preventative approach to health.

After 20 years working as a GP in the NHS, I’ve increasingly felt frustrated that I’m not always able to provide the level of care I would like for my patients. The time constraints — often just 10 minutes per consultation — can make it difficult to fully explore more complex or ongoing health concerns.

I’ve also found that this model can limit opportunities to focus on prevention and long-term wellbeing. At times, I feel that conventional medicine alone doesn’t offer all the answers, and that it can be meaningfully complemented by more holistic, integrative approaches.

My Passion

My passion has always been simple: to offer the very best care to every person who walks through the door. I’ve always been deeply empathetic, with a strong drive to help others — it’s something that has shaped my path from a young age. As a teenager, I volunteered with the Red Cross in a paediatric oncology hospital in Madrid, supported children in underserved communities to learn to read or write, and later travelled to countries such as Kenya, Tanzania and Ethiopia with NGOs.

Caring for people has never felt like just a job to me—it feels a purpose.

Over time, however, I’ve found myself increasingly questioning whether the system I work in always allows me to care for patients in the way I believe they deserve. At times, it can feel like we are placing “plasters” rather than truly healing—focusing on symptoms rather than seeing the whole person.

This has sparked a growing curiosity in me. I’ve found myself asking deeper questions: How much does gut health influence overall wellbeing? Are there better ways to assess things like stress, hormones or metabolic health? How much unresolved trauma can impact physical illness? Are chronic fatigue conditions related other than mitochondrial damage, and how can we best support them? Can approaches like somatic or breathing therapies support recovery from chronic stress and anxiety?.

These questions have led me to explore more holistic and integrative approaches to medicine—ones that aim not just to treat illness, but to understand and support the whole person. For me, this is about continuing to learn, staying open-minded, and ultimately finding better ways to truly help people heal.

Life Beyond Me

Beyond my work, my passion is collecting meaningful memories and cherishing the moments that truly matter in life. I love spending time with my family and friends—sometimes a simple coffee and a good conversation is the best kind of medicine—hug included.

I also have a lifelong love of learning. I speak Spanish and English fluently, manage with Catalan and Portuguese, and have explored languages like Greek, German, and French. My current challenge is learning Korean, which is a fun and humbling adventure!.

For me, curiosity, connection, and share experiences are what make life rich. Whether through travel, conversation, or learning something new, I try to make every moment count—and carry those memories with me.
