Cyryx College has commenced a two-day refresher workshop for journalists under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The workshop covers key soft skills and knowledge areas essential for journalists to effectively carry out their work and increase their impact on Maldivian society. Topics include sociology and society, research skills, media and human rights, and communication skills. Sessions are facilitated by instructors from both Cyryx College and external institutions.

At the opening session, Vice-Rector of Cyryx College Ahmed Shahid highlighted the key role of media and journalists in shaping society and its approach to development, emphasizing that the knowledge and skills gained through the workshop will lead to a deeper appreciation of these dynamics. He also stressed that Cyryx College’s main objective in conducting this free training programme for journalists is to make a social contribution — one with the potential to deepen understanding of society and create the conditions needed to positively shape its future trajectory.
A total of 20 journalists are expected to complete the workshop.
